Today sees Norwegian solo artist DAGNY unveil her debut single ‘Backbeat’. The track had its radio premiere courtesy of Zane Lowe at Beats1, and premiered online a moment ago over on The Line Of Best Fit.

Listen to the new track below.

DAGNY is an artist and songwriter from Tromsø, Norway. In many ways, her music reflects her personality – a quirky folk/pop sound infused with a huge dose of youthful optimism.

Over the last 12 months or so DAGNY has been actively writing and performing both locally and internationally. She has toured Norway as a solo artist, as well as with her four piece band. In 2013, she went on the first of her ‘Living Room’ tours. Since then she’s been arranging these tours annually, performing to thousands of fans as a result.
Selling out her debut London headline show at The Old Queens Head towards the end of last year – based purely on word of mouth, DAGNY’s return to the stage this month saw her play two more extremely well received shows, culminating in a fiery performance to a packed out Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen crowd.

New single ‘Backbeat’ speaks volumes for what DAGNY is all about. Immensely catchy folk-inflected pop choruses, driving piano lines, all carried by DAGNY’s timeless, and effortlessly captivating vocals.“Think fast, don’t let the speed of sound leave you feeling paralysed / Slow down, cause your words are saying something different from your eyes” DAGNY sings in ‘Backbeat’’s verse – perhaps a reference to how quickly things can change – whether those things be relationships, friendships, or perhaps things moving forward in one’s own career. For DAGNY, she might just be about to experience the latter, first hand.

DAGNY has no doubt got a wonderfully busy year ahead, with numerous live shows pencilled in for the rest of the year moving into 2016, along her debut EP set to arrive early in the new year.
