Following its premiere on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, Northern Ireland based outfit Silences have unveiled their new single ‘There’s A Wolf’, along with announcement that their new EP ‘Luna’ will be released April 15th 2016.

Silences, led by singer and songwriter Conchúr White (with the line-up completed by Christopher Harbinson, Breándan White, Jonathan Downing and Michael Keyes) – have received critical acclaim for their two previous EPs ‘Nevernames’ and ‘Sister Snow’ from the likes of Annie Mac, Huw Stephens & Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1), Earmilk, Clash, All Things Go, Nialler 9, and have been streamed over a million times on Spotify, along with performing alongside the likes of Hozier, St Vincent, Laura Mvula and more.

Speaking on the release of the new single, frontman Conchúr said “‘There’s A Wolf’ is about the menace of nostalgia and how our minds can reinterpret our memories and feelings to make us miss something that we never cared that much for. Musically, I believe it’s a massive progression for the band.”

The musical progression can definitely be heard throughout the new EP, and ‘There’s a Wolf’ stands as the perfect introduction. Staying true to their successful formula of delectable harmonies and melodies, combined with folk-inflected acoustic guitars – Silences’ music is grandiose; it’s high-reaching, and gloriously ambitious.

The lyrics appear to reference the lure of a wolf despite its danger. Perhaps something form our past, that may have attractive qualities, but is ultimately bad for us.
