Today sees London-based 3 piece RITUAL share ‘Too Deep’ (feat Delilah) – the final track to be lifted from their new EP ‘From The City To The Wilderness’ – ahead of its release tomorrow (October 23rd).

Speaking on the new track, which features Delilah on additional vocals, RITUAL have said “We’ve always been fascinated by dual female/male vocals on records – the electricity of the connection between two people, two different takes on the same emotion and the tension and harmony this creates. The lead vocals on ‘Too Deep’ from Delilah are arresting in their intensity. She comes from a darker place as an artist and a vocalist, but there’s a sensuality and an angst that is mesmerising when she sings…”

‘Too Deep’ closes off an EP which is sure to establish the trio as one of the key UK outfits to look out for in 2016.

The EP roll-out started back in the summer with the reveal of ‘Low Season’, along with the band’s very well received collaboration with up and coming female artist Frances, on her track ‘When It Comes To Us’.

Somewhat differing in style musically to their previous output, ‘Low Season’ saw RITUAL pushing both themselves to the limit, and intrinsically, their own fans.

On the second EP track ‘Josephine’, also the lead single from the EP, RITUAL partnered up with Lisa Hannigan (of Damien Rice fame). It saw the trio marrying together elements of RnB and folk, laid upon a bed of soothing electronics and warm, pop-tinged instrumentals. The track went onto see some fantastic results, hitting the global, US, and UK viral charts on Spotify (recently surpassing the 1 million streams mark), along with being added to the Introducing playlist on BBC 1Xtra.

On the third track on the new EP, RITUAL switched things up with ‘Instinct’ – which gave a nostalgic nod to Soul and UK Garage in its production, and with the release of ‘Too Deep’ today, the EP can now be listened to in its gorgeous entirety.

Overall, ‘From The City To The Wilderness’ stands as a hugely impressive body of work, marking a very confident stride forward for the trio.

Speaking on the release of the EP, the band said “The title itself [From The City To The Wilderness] describes the atmosphere and backdrop on which we make our music. The noise and pollution of the city where we live, the constant roar of modernity set against a stillness – the quiet of an intact and natural environment. This has had a big influence on the songwriting – our voices and instruments coming up against our computers and the noise of machines, is an essential theme of R I T U A L”

The band have already had strong Radio 1 support from Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and other Radio 1 DJ’s, they’ve been playlisted on Radio 1 Xtra, ‘Track of the Week’ on Jo Whiley’s Radio 2 show, as well as whole host of other spots – including a guest play from 4AD signing SOHN, airplay from KCRW in LA, and praise from Peter Rosenberg, the profilific Hot 97 DJ in New York.

The ‘From The City To The Wilderness’ EP is set for release October 23rd, 2015.
