Elias’ debut album Entwined represents thousands of studios hours over three years, chronicling Elias’ journey from debut single ‘Revolution’ to final puzzle piece ‘The Entwined’. Not only is the album a powerful collage of musical styles, whether Elias’ signature soul, high-octane dance, sweeping pop and those quieter moments in between, but it also touches on so many areas of human existence. ‘No Deeper We Can Fall’ dives to the feeling of when you’ve given it all and the well has run dry. In the same vein, ‘Love Hurts’ speaks of emotional exhaustion, loneliness and apathy in the wake of heartbreak. However there are glimpses of hope, such as ‘Tearing Down The Walls’, a song about breaking down boundaries – between generations, between cultures, between styles of music, and ultimately it’s about escaping into freedom.

From love to conflict; reaching into our inner lives and out to the wider world of politics, human rights, the environment. There goes no stone left unturned by this artist whose tirelessly work in the studio has produced a truly astonishing debut.

Sharing his thoughts on the album, Elias says:

“I really wanted the album to be as pure and honest as possible, and that’s a pretty hard thing to do. There may be simple melodies, but to find those melodies you have to go full circle: discover the more atmospheric side at first, and then you come to the essence of the song. I also wanted to get away from where I was born and try to find my place in the world.”

Taking you back three years ago when Elias surrendered ‘Revolution’ to the world, he was quickly praised by BBC Radio 1 as the best male vocalist since Sam Smith. The single also soundtracked the trailer for US film Birth Of A Nation. Shortly afterwards, Elias was nominated for two Swedish Grammy Awards and made a unique performance at the gala. One of the biggest surprises of all, the choreographer Jefta van Dinther for world renowned Cullberg Ballet found inspiration for his entire stage production Protagonist with “Revolution”, and Elias even participated as voice-over.

Expectations turned into walls. The more opinions people had about the music, the more distant Elias felt from creating….

The decision was made to revert to creating music, for himself. Since then Elias has fought to make music in his own way and on his own terms. Not to be pigeonholed where he does not belong. To create an album he is proud of and can support all the way.

The album contains collaborations with the Grammy-winning producers Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey) and Fraser T Smith (Stormzy, Drake, Sam Smith) and Elias right hand partner HYENA (Janice, Shout Out Louds) and the close friends Humble & Blisse (Skott, Silvana Imam).
