21-year old Southampton born singer/songwriter/producer Laurel returns with her new single ‘Blue Blood’. Listen here

Another magical, alternative pop stunner, ‘Blue Blood’ perfectly embodies everything she’s about. Simple, yet devastatingly powerful vocal melodies, shimmer above string-infused orchestral instrumentation, with a huge backdrop of thumping drums.

To date, Laurel has released two EPs, ‘To The Hills’ and ‘Holy Water’, to high critical acclaim. Both bodies of work amplify her signature hauntingly beautiful sound, layering subtle electronic touches with orchestral arrangements, all while highlighting her sultry, entrancing vocals.

Her arresting tracks have garnered millions of Spotify streams and YouTube views. She has been featured on SPIN, Interview Magazine, Vogue, Noisey, Pigeons & Planes, The Guardian, The Lab, BULLETT and more.

Laurel began performing age 14. Fast forward to 2015, Laurel is signed to Turn First Artists (Iggy Azalea, Jack Garratt, Dan Croll) has sold over 15,000 singles independently, has over 5 million plays on Spotify, over 2.5million plays on SoundCloud and over 2 million views on YouTube. She’s gone from gigging in her hometown of Salisbury Green to supporting John Newman, MSMR, Dan Croll, Jack Garratt and more.

In April 2015, Laurel also released her alternative hip-hop mixtape ‘Allelopathy’ which received critical acclaim from leading urban publications including Complex, Respect, Untitled Magazine, and more. Always keeping her ears to the ground, writing and working as much as possible, her exciting exploits in hip-hop are set to continue, with a forthcoming collaboration with New York-based rapper Charles Hamilton – set for release next month.

Whilst putting the finishing touches to her album, Laurel has been busy touring, playing numerous UK festivals over the past 2 years including, The Great Escape, Dot to Dot, Bestival, and Radio 1 Big Weekend. Laurel also played her first U.S shows at The Troubadour in LA, KCRW’s “School Night” in LA & New York, Northside Festival in New York and NXNE in Toronto.

Further solidifying her reputation as one of the most exciting prospects around, earlier this year Laurel won the Emerging/Unsigned Artist Of The Year award at this year Musexpo awards ceremony – voted for by industry professionals.

With further tour dates planned on both sides of the Atlantic and a debut album set for release in the next 12 months you can expect to hear a lot more from alt pop newcomer Laurel.

‘Blue Blood’ is out July 31st on Next Time Records (Laurel’s own label imprint)
