Jagga has just announced that he is to play a rather intimate and very much FREE gig this Sunday the 1st of July at The Lock Tavern in Camden. Anyone who’s been to a gig in their famed upstairs room before will know that this really isn’t to be missed. Expect a packed crowd, balloons and maybe even dancing on tables. I can’t see him doing a gig in such a small room again.

Jagga releases his new single ‘Love Song’ on the 22nd of July. He also recently announced that he’ll be playing in the dance tent at Leeds and Reading this year alongside the likes of Azealia Banks, Grimes and Metronomy.

‘Love Song’ is the new single, released 22nd July on Epic (Sony), by Jagga. Love Song, actually more like an anti-love song, details a kind of harsh, and maybe rather brief, affair that is more likely to be packed with lust rather than love. The lyrics speak for themselves and the video puts an even bigger spin on the whole thing, turning it into something gritty, violent and even shocking.

Jagga was last seen all over the internet when his TMS and Devlin collaboration ‘Keep On The Light’ was featured by blogs and sites all over the world. The track is still available as a free download from his facebook.

Last year was a good one for Jagga, he toured with Katy B, signed to Sony and went to LA to record with Odd Future producer Matt Martian, an experience that has had quite an effect on the artist. As Jagga was growing up he was influenced by everything from Rage Against the Machine to Wu-Tang Clan. As he got older the influences carried on widening as he discovered Bob Dylan, David Bowie and James Brown, but it’s reggae star Sizzla that Jagga enthuses most about. You can hear this range of artists in Jagga’s own performances. He has a voice that descends from both the great rock lineage of passionate, all-consuming feeling and the spiritual, reflective traditions of reggae – all channeled through Jagga’s identity as a young 21st century boy. Jagga is determined to carve out his own singular niche in the UK scene.

Jagga was recently confirmed as one of the acts to play Leeds and Reading’s dance stage. Keep an eye out for further live dates. Jagga’s debut album is also on the way too. Exciting times lie ahead.
