Place In The Sky is a lockdown-inspired cry of freedom; it was recorded at AIR Studios (London) and co-produced with Alex Ferguson, mixed by Joshua Mellody and mastered by Kevin Tuffy. Freddie Mercer develops his sound into a mix of classic and modern sonic landscapes placing heart-felt songwriting and live raw arrangements at the heart of it all.

Freddie Mercer says: “This song manifested itself on the piano in lockdown and represents the anxiety and frustration that I was feeling at the time. It began as a Thom Yorke’esque vocal above some punchy piano chords I was hitting hard and then I then took it to my engineer/co-producer and we fleshed it out with the band in the studio; the beat came next as the backbone of the song and then the wicked sounding guitars driving alongside it…it was ours and now it’s yours, Freddie X”

Freddie Mercer is a singer-songwriter from Somerset. He started out as a classically trained musician until he got drowned into the musical world of Radiohead, Sam Fender, Coldplay and Tom Odell. He has managed to build a name for himself by playing live gigs in prestigious venues across London such as Ronnie Scotts, Bush Hall, The Troubadour, L’Escargot, Groucho Club, Hospital Club and The Conduit.

Mercer is now set to release a strings of singles in 2021 and become a household name in the indie-rock lane.
