Max Pope is this week releasing his highly anticipated next single – ‘Rollercoaster’.

The new track premiered over on Clash – and can be streamed below.

A singer/songwriter from Brighton – Max has seen waves of critical acclaim come his way in the past 12 months or so – from being named as one of Spotify UK’s “Ones To Watch” in 2016, to seeing praise and support from the likes of Stereogum, The Line Of Best Fit, Wonderland Magazine, Clash, Indie Shuffle and many more.

Quietly plying his trade in recent months, Max has perfected his live show – with the help of his trusty band-members and friends, all the while writing new material constantly.

‘Rollercoaster’ is the first evidence of that hard work, and it’s a hugely welcome return. Max Pope’s talent as both a musician and songwriter is on full display, with exquisitely delivered guitar lines splatted all over the canvas, with his charismatic vocals tying everything together seamlessly. ‘Rollercoaster’ is an apt name for the new single, as it has an undeniable youthful energy about it – one that is completely irresistible once you’re hooked in.

Max takes you on a ride with his music. A deliciously evocative amalgamation of genres, his family and friends have had a big impact on his development as a songwriter. Speaking on his influences, Max notes that whilst he’s a huge fan of a lot of new music coming out right now, there’s a lot of old-school blues and soul embedded within his music. “I don’t listen to a whole lot of blues music, but it’s always been around me since I was really young” he explains. His dad, also a musician, has had a huge impact on Max – and he explains that his father has always been a big source of inspiration during his development as an artist and songwriter.

Take a huge dose of talent, a touch of song-writing genius and a splash of precocious musicianship. To that, add a liberal dash of youthful vitality and energy plus the confidence of a live performer who has the ability to not only captivate, but make sure that you – the audience member – feel as important as what he is doing on stage. What you are left with is the talent that is Max Pope.

Splitting his time between Brighton and London, writing and recording with his friend and collaborator Alex Burey, Max has evolved into a wonderfully well rounded artist. Combining influences from a variety of different sources, he manages to effortlessly bridge the gap between fresh, modern – alternative songwriting, and the classic indie rock sound of the 60’s and 70’s.

Vibrant and exciting, Max Pope looks set to take a seat at music’s high table of success. A musician of remarkable skill and a writer of songs that belie his years, he is clearly an artist that is a student of his craft. Consummately at ease in the live setting – and with music that acknowledges the past, but clearly lives in the present, Max is a star for the future.
