London-based trio RITUAL are sharing their superb new single ‘The Only One’ – featuring Harlem, New York based rapper Skizzy Mars. The track premiered over on The Fader, and can be streamed below.

Teasing the release of highly-anticipated third EP ‘Every Night Another But Not You’ – the new single ‘The Only One’ – featuring rising New York rapper Skizzy Mars is a slick, swirling hip-hop influenced electronic gem, showing yet another intriguing layer to their songwriting prowess.

Speaking on the release of the new single, RITUAL said: “‘The Only One’ is something a bit different for us, we wanted to show that Ritual is more than just a smooth RnB/ambient type project – we’re huge fans of indie and hip-hop; this track really has its roots in that.”

Another confident stride forward, ‘The Only One’ welds together throbbing synth chords with chopped up hip-hop inflected beats, providing a perfect soothing instrumental bed for the track’s triumphant vocal turns.

Continuing to support and collaborate with like-minded rising artists, the new single finds them working with Skizzy Mars – “Skizzy is an artist we’re all fans of,” RITUAL explain. “He has an amazing flow but also a great sense of melody and really combines songwriting and hip-hop in a fresh way. We’ve been following him for a while so it was a real privilege to work with him on this one, he killed it – especially with his last line: ‘You need space / I gave you orbit’”

Skizzy Mars is certainly hot property at the moment, especially with his debut EP ‘The Red Balloon Project’ hitting the top 5 on the Billboard Rap chart – following the tradition of RITUAL catching onto promising new artists just as they’re about to break.
