“Thank you for being so patient. I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery that has led me to the darkest and most beautiful places on earth. From the northern lights of Norway and desolate lands of Iceland to discovering lost civilisations and climbing mountains deep in the heart of Asia.” – Thomas Slinger a.k.a. Gemini

In the breathtaking new ‘Wanderlust’ teaser video, UK electronic artist Gemini reveals a lush, cinematic new sound.

Teasing his first new music in more than two years, Gemini steps light years beyond his earlier work as a dubstep overachiever, top-tier remixer, and BBC1 superstar beloved by influential DJs such as Annie Mac and Zane Lowe.

While still electronic at heart, Wanderlust catapults Gemini into a wide-angle world of pop-driven atmospherics – quite literally. Shot via drone throughout Iceland during a period extensive global travels to escape writers block, we’re swept across mind-blowing glaciers, snow painted mountaintops, sleepy villages and epic waterfalls in the arresting new clip.

The epic visual provides a glimpse at the creative inspiration driving the genre-defying work of Thomas Slinger, the man behind Gemini. Following the success of solo singles such as ‘Blue’ and mixes for A-listers (Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey), Slinger felt compelled to break beyond genre boundaries. He retreated to a studio to radically rethink his sounds–and promptly got writer’s block.

Undeterred, he packed up his belongings, left Britain and set out to travel the world, reigniting his musical creativity and discovering a latent talent for travel photography and film (catalogued via his expansive @ThisIsGemini Instagram account) as he explored Norway, Sweden, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Burma and more. Channeling these cross-continental explorations into the intensely personal music on Wanderlust, Singer’s creative vision is now fully formed.

Stay tuned for more music from Gemini in 2016.
