Having announced the release of her new album ‘The Sound and The Fury’ out September 11th on Idaho Records, Nerina Pallot now presents the debut single Rousseau.
A definitive fan favourite and inspirational keystone to the album’s development, ‘Rousseau’ takes its title from both French painter Henri Rousseau and Swiss philosopher Jean-Jaques Rousseau.
Rosseau arrives with a beautifully shot video which sees Nerina led on an evocative journey through London city centre, guided by an enthralling set of masked beasts before arriving at her final destination. Describing the video, Pallot commented: “I wanted to make a simple, but visually sumptuous video that reflected the main inspiration behind Rousseau. So what better way than to take a journey through the city of London at dawn and end up in the National Gallery, in front of the Henri Rousseau painting, Surprised! that gave me the idea for the song in the first place.”

The Sound And The Fury, Nerina’s fifth album, is released on September 11th on her own Idaho Records. To describe the album as a departure from its four predecessors is something of an understatement. When Nerina says it’s her mid-life crisis album, she’s only half joking. When she says it isn’t her happiest collection of songs, she isn’t kidding.
The album is as tempestuous as its title suggests. It’s a bold, bluesy, Biblical storm, in turns restless, aggressive and defiant. It was announced alongside new video The Road created with filmmaker Damian Weiler. Premiered by The Guardian, the video was shot in Calais over recent weeks and is a frank, impartial document of his experience, highlighting not only the desperate circumstances of the migrant camps there but the sense of community they have pulled together in spite of their plight.
Nerina and her band will play London’s Scala on September 17th 2015. Tickets are on sale on now from: http://www.livenation.co.uk/artist/nerina-pallot-tickets
