Equals unveil new single ‘Black on Gold’ to be released 12th February 2015

Equals are James Low and Ade Omotayo. With ‘Black on Gold’, their first new music since their acclaimed debut EP ‘Simple Soul’ last year.

Born in the musical melting pot of East London, Equals are James Low and Ade Omotayo. Their unique brand of electronic soul draws on influences ranging from UK garage to modern classical, with James’ sparse, hypnotic production offering the perfect counterpoint to the raw power and emotion of Ade’s voice.

Ade’s years of working with Amy Winehouse and James’ experience touring the UK with different bands, has taught them a lot about live performance, and thus Equals has been a live project from the start.

Their debut EP ‘Single Soul’ was released on UK label Senseless in Spring 2014, backed by a powerful video for the song ‘Pyre’. Also featuring a remix from XXXY, the EP gained the band a whole raft of new fans including Lauren Laverne who made Pyre her track of the day on BBC6, The Guardian’s Paul Lester who featured them on his radio show as well as more radio on Capital Xtra, BBCR1, Rinse and many others.
