Multi award winning Swiss artist Bastian Baker releases debut UK single ‘SIX’ (5.10.18), the second track taken from his forth, upcoming self-titled album released 26.10.19.
Currently on tour with Shania Twain the 27-year-old Swiss singer-songwriter is Twain’s sole opening act on the trek, making audiences swoon with his lighthearted acoustic tracks and contagious smile.
On the track, Bastian quotes I wrote SIX after spending a week in Los Angeles, with a girl I had been seeing on & off for a couple years. I was staying at her place and although we had the best time the first two days, it quickly became more complicated.
What had happened that week got me thinking – you know how they say that the seventh year is the most complicated year in a relationship? That week I had the feeling that the last 7 days I had experienced with this girl were maybe the equivalent of 7 years in other relationships.
In August 2016 I was in Montreal to record SIX. My producers and I decided to use an electric guitar on the track after I was inspired by James Bays’ guitar sounds. We started recording “one takes” without a click, to see how it felt. Then it was just one of those magic moments that sometimes happens in the studio. After the 3rd take I had a really good feeling, and when I opened my eyes again, I just saw the producers clapping their hands. Then one of them told me, “we have it, let’s get lunch”. And that was it. The next day we added a bass, a violin and very few harmonies to this third take and we had a song!
Bastian Baker will be his forth album and follows 2 platinum and 1 gold selling records plus multiple awards including 7 x Swiss Music Awards, 1 x MTV EMA and 1 x World Music.
Bastian has over half a million followers on his socials. 25m views on YT and over 10m plays on Spotify.
