UK soul sensation Joss Stone has announced that ‘The Answer‘ will be the first single taken from her upcoming seventh studio album, ‘Water For Your Soul‘. The album will be released on July 31st. Following on from the ‘instant grat’ track, ‘Stuck On You’, earlier this month, ‘The Answer’ is also available as an instant grat when pre – ordering the album as of June 1st. The single received its first radio play on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 Breakfast Show today, Tuesday, May 26th, as well as premiering online on Billboard.com.
The striking track features snappy percussion, driving violins, gospel BV’s and Joss’ trademark soulful vocal. The song is a sonic reflection of the album’s inspirations, derived from Joss’ travels on her on-going Total World Tour, and was co – written with legendary reggae maestro Dennis Bovell and long time Stone collaborator Jonathan Shorten. Speaking about the meaning behind the upcoming single Joss said:
“It’s annoying to hear people moaning about things they could easily change. I think you’ve got to just let it go, stop holding on to your stress. Of course, you can’t tell people that, they need to come to the answer themselves. But you can put it in a song.”
Infused with elements of reggae, ‘world’ sounds, hip hop and soul, the ‘Water For Your Soul‘ album, which was co- produced by Stone, features artwork designed by a Joss Stone fan following a competition on Stone’s website. Each track from the album will be accompanied by the top entries and the first of these, done by Erick Cord, will appear with ‘The Answer’ on Youtube from May 26th.
