The soulful and inquisitive talent that is Jordan Mackampa returns, releasing ‘One In The Same’ on 25.5.18. ‘One In The Same’ – delivers a strong message, effortless vocals with an upbeat melody taking you on a four-minute journey of pure pleasure.
Speaking on the track, Jordan quotes: This song represents modern day communication between people, whether it’s a friendship or something more intimate. We take for granted how easily we can text, FaceTime or even call a friend/loved one, which I believe has affected the way we talk to one another. Being in a long distance relationship myself, it is very easy to say you’re doing fine over the phone, in comparison to having a chat face to face with my girlfriend and talking about how you’re genuinely feeling — there is a lot to be misunderstood through a phone call, and there’s even more than can be misinterpreted through a lack of human interaction. We are all connected electronically, yet distant from each other somewhat physically & emotionally. I tried to incorporate how much of our “online personas” consume our day to day lives, because no matter where we are in the world, everyone sees the same black screen when their phone dies and it’s only our reflections staring back at us, leaving us all a little bit lonely.
‘One In The Same’ was co written by Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Matt Ingram and produced by Cam Blackwood.
The Coventry raised singer/songwriter is the combination of his Congolese roots and midlands upbringing. His soul soaked, indie driven tracks swim in the sounds and stories of the cities he’s inhabited over the years. Inspired by his mother’s love of the great soul singers, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers and Curtis Mayfield, Jordan combines his timeless vocal with catchy melodies and heart felt lyrics to create an exciting hybrid of alternative folk and soul which will enchant and uplift in equal measure.”
Jordan played 3 sold out, headline gigs in London and multiple packed out performances at festivals throughout 2017. 2018’s live shows have included supporting Jeremy Loops and Blanco White with upcoming performances confirmed on 17.5.18 @ The Great Escape, ITB Stage, The Prince Albert, Brighton, UK and 22-24.6.18 @ Mittsommer Festival in Switzerland.
