Rising singer-songwriter Tor Miller has unveiled a new music video for his new single ‘Always’, which is released 13 January 2017. Driven by piano, a huge backbeat and the 21-year-old New Yorker’s impassioned vocal, ‘Always’ is the follow-up to Tor’s recent Radio 2 playlisted track ‘Surrender’.

The video for ‘Always’, premiered yesterday by Billboard, was directed by award-winning filmmaker Fern Berresford and was shot in Greenwich foot tunnel in the early hours of the morning.

“The video for Always is about the conflicting views the main character has on his current situation and the person he thinks he still loves,” says Tor. “Working with Fern was a great experience. We wanted to portray the conflicting emotions within the song, envisioning the tunnel as a sort of nightmare, which keeps looping – being haunted by apparitions of your significant other, questioning your future together. I think it’s my best video to date.”

Tor’s recently released debut album ‘American English’ was lead by ‘Carter & Cash’, which received tremendous support from both press and radio. Pigeons & Planes wrote, “Remember this moment. Carter & Cash is the kind of song that could catapult a career…” while The Independent explained, “Carter & Cash is a foot-tapping, head-nodding trip: uplifting and spirited in a way that doesn’t make you grit your teeth.”

About Tor Miller
Tor Miller became obsessed by music aged 12 when his family uprooted from Manhattan to upstate New York, leaving him feeling friendless and isolated. By his early teens he was studying piano, writing and performing his own songs, eventually securing a place to study music at the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music back his beloved New York. Once there, Tor would spent late nights paying his dues in the piano bars of the lower-east side, where he was spotted by Glassnote Records – home to artists such as Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, Childish Gambino and Chvrches – a label with a long history of finding and nurturing talent.

Glassnote gave Tor and his songs the time and space to breathe and develop, letting him put together a band and tour with them several times before heading to the studio to record the album. Consequently, ‘American English’ is a staggeringly accomplished debut. There’s bold and grandiose (‘Surrender’), there’s pop with a range of colour (‘Carter & Cash’, ‘Always’), and there’s hushed and beautiful (‘Baby Blue’). Despite the album’s variations in tone and pace, Tor has kept a sonic thread throughout that keeps it from being a mish-mash of ideas. His music has soul, and his performance has a range, depth and scale.
