Swedish alt-pop powerhouse NONONO release their new single ‘Dancing (Mumbai Wedding)‘ on August 31st through Warner Music Sweden. Joyous and uplifting, it touches on the twists and turns we go through in life and the wonderful experiences that can come in the darkest of times. Listen here:

Dancing (Mumbai Wedding) is the new single to be released from Stockholm trio NONONO’s forthcoming album ‘Undertones’, which is set for release on September 28th on Warner Music Sweden. Pop Justice recently proclaimed “Swedish trio NONONO’s second album is shaping up to be quite spectacular.”

Speaking about the powerful inspiration behind the new single Stina explains; “Dancing (Mumbai Wedding) is about catching a beautiful moment and how much more powerful and clear such moments become in the presence of darkness and grief. I wrote the song under a wedding in Mumbai India, during the celebration of my friends love. Eight years earlier I had been in the same city but then horrified and stuck in the middle of a terrorist attack. My sister and I were at one of the places where they opened fire; holding each other tight in a corner we tried to become as small as possible. Under three sleepless days there were no safe places, only a constant readiness and our bodies jerky twitching from the sound of another fire gun or another bombing. There has been a life before Mumbai and a life after. Above all life feels more fragile now and very unpredictable. Thus, when I’m back at the same place with only time as a distance, all my senses are elevated. All life and every emotion feels brighter and the two weeks that we are celebrating love becomes luminous in contrast to the dark stain in my memory. I am somehow miserably blissful, happy about the beauty of being a human and the capability to love and at the same time painfully aware of the fragility of those moments. I wanted to capture that feeling in a jar, save it and keep it as a reminder – that’s how “Dancing (Mumbai Wedding)” came about.”

NONONO – consisting of singer-songwriter Stina Wäppling and producers Tobias Jimson (Astma) and Michel Flygare (Rocwell) – made a welcome return in Autumn 2017, after a two-year hiatus, with their single ‘Masterpiece’. Having racked up numerous plays at national radio station P3 for ‘Masterpiece’, they followed up with the release of the stunning single ‘Lost Song’, which was the first song to be created after the band’s reunion. It didn’t take long before ‘Lost Song’, described as “ludicrously catchy” by The Line of Best Fit became #1 on Hype Machine. They kicked off 2018 with the release of the infectious single ‘Friends’ as premiered on Pop Justice.

NONONO was one of the biggest Swedish musical exports in 2013-2014. The big breakthrough came when ‘Pumpin Blood’ was released followed by the release of their acclaimed debut album ‘We Are Only What We Feel’. With more than 2.000.000 singles sold, a performance at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, US tours alongside Twenty One Pilots and Foster the People as well as appearances at Lollapalooza Festival, the trios plethora of international gold records (including the USA) and multi-platinum sales in Scandinavia speak for the intense international hold NONONO has commanded with their sparing yet impactful careers to date.

After a couple of intense years, the band needed to take a break to get new inspiration. Tobias and Michel went back into the studio and produced songs for artists like Madonna, Maroon 5, Tove Lo and Zara Larsson (where they recently received the “The Song Of The Year” awards at the Swedish Grammys for Zara’s “Only You”). Stina spent several months traveling around in Sri Lanka, India and Bali, where she surfed, played guitar and wrote songs. When she returned to Stockholm, full of inspiration, insights and new impressions, she decided to resume her studies in psychology while writing and recording her new music with the band.
