OUTLYA return with the release of their new single ‘White Light’ on March 16th through Closer Recordings via Virgin EMI. Written by Will Bloomfield (OUTLYA), Jim Irvin and Max Mcelligott (Max Wolfgang) and produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat (Liam Gallagher, Tom Grennan, Radiohead, The Vaccines), ‘White Light’ is an indie-pop tour de force, embodying OUTLYA’s knack for creating a killer hook and an even catchier chorus that demands to be sung along to.

Speaking about ‘White Light’ Will explains, “White Light is a song about pushing through the darker days that we all find ourselves in some times. Whether it’s faith, love, determination, everyone has a “white light” that offers up some illumination or hope in times of trouble. We wanted to take that sentiment and make a physical version of that would make you want to dance. Dancing is this really instinctive raw human expression of emotion and we tried to encapsulate that.

We took the song to the studio and Dan helped us chisel our initial demos into something altogether more energetic and poppier. We had a load of ideas from these initial recordings – this house piano, group gospel vocals, distorted guitars and weird samples and we mixed them altogether into the final song.”

Having released their latest EP ‘Volcano’ in October, to a rapturous response amassing over 1.5 million Spotify streams and picking up radio support from BBC Introducing and Radio X, not to mention a sold out headline show at London’s Camden Assembly, OUTLYA head out on an extensive headline UK tour in March 2018.

OUTLYA have been touring extensively this year, including support slots with Norwegian pop princess Dagny, Pharell’s protégé Maggie Rogers at Brixton Electric, Bad Sounds at Scala and Gabrielle Aplin not to mention UK tours with Frances and Dan Croll, alongside a plethora of festival dates over the Summer including The Great Escape, Bushstock, Barn on the Farm, Latitude, Y Not Festival, Standon and Kendal Calling, and most recently Reading & Leeds Festival and a SOLD OUT headline show at Camden Assembly on October 19th.

They’re making bright, wide eyed music that takes you outside of everyday drudgery – and it reflects the band’s own relationship to music. Other artists “make this place that people go to in their own minds,” Will explains. “If you’re a fan of Grace Jones amongst other like minded people, you’re connected. You go to that same place. Subconsciously, the reason it’s so drilled into my brain is because that’s the way I’ve always seen it, ever since I started listening to music, there was always a place to go to. There are artists like Jon Hopkins and Bonobo who make specifically transportative music, but all music has it in some way. I hope ours will do too.”

OUTLYA (pronounced Outlier) are: Will Bloomfield (lead vocals, keys), Willem Olenski (guitar and backing vocals) and Henry Kilmister (drums and backing vocals)
