London-based talent Nathan Ball makes his long-awaited return, with a shimmering, irresistibly soulful new single, entitled ‘Right Place’.

The track premiered over on The Line Of Best Fit, and can now be streamed below.

The track is also this week’s BBC Introducing track on the Radio 1 playlist.

“’Right Place’ was written when we’d just got back from a tour – playing shows up in the mountains in France.” Nathan explains.

You can immediately hear the mountain air permeating through the track’s delicately arranged guitar turns, and rousing vocal melody ideas. With this new single, it’s instantly apparent that Nathan and his band are taking things up a notch both sonically, and creatively. A glorious team effort – the time the band have spent on tour seems to have made a lasting impression on Nathan as a songwriter.

“It was an incredible trip for us.” he continues – “when I was back home, I picked up the guitar and started exploring this idea of a ‘right place’, a place where people feel most comfortable and happy. Whether that be a physical location or a headspace – it’s a place where people go to find peace and feel free.”

Recorded with Ian Grimble (Manic Street Preachers, Daughter, Bear’s Den) in London (where Nathan now resides) – ‘Right Place’ appears to have re-ignited, and enhanced the way he thinks about songwriting – with future material set to follow suit.

A year on from the success of his EP ‘Howling’, the Buckinghamshire born, London based musician has already received nation-wide support from Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC Introducing Three Counties and the Mark Forest Show; and ‘Right Place’ is now confirmed to be fully supported across Radio 1 on their playlist this week.

With a new band and musical direction, Nathan is effortlessly moving away from his days as a solo musician – to a fuller setup, harnessing the epic live sound that has captivated audiences across the UK and Europe, both on main festival stages and in more intimate environments.

Pulling inspiration from dramatic landscapes, the people that inhabit these locations and the various ideologies that encapsulate these environments, his music is at once melancholic and reassuring.

After the success of last year’s festival season, which saw Nathan and his band play main stages including opening for Laura Marling at Somersault and alongside Rae Morris at Boomerang, they recently toured Europe – selling out a headline show, and supporting Sunset Sons at large venues across Belgium and the Netherlands.

This summer, they took to the road again to play shows at Secret Garden Party, and Farr Festival, with Glass Butter Beach, and 7 Layers in Holland among the others still to come.

To celebrate the release of ‘Right Place’ – Nathan and his band will return to London for a headline show at the Sebright Arms on 13th October.
