The album reviews are in and they are nothing short of sensational. The Telegraph said in their 5* review that the album is a “glittering debut of a young master of American song”, The Daily Mail in their 5* review that Max ‘shows a maturity beyond his years on his bittersweet debut, The Guardian that it is ‘broad sweeping and epic’, and Mojo in their 4* review that “…the results are highly accomplished and consistently gorgeous”.

23 year old Max writes, sings, plays guitar and piano, and has a voice like no other. He’s spent much of the last two years living in London, his adopted second home, after growing up in Des Moines, Iowa. He writes perfectly formed songs that veer from the bittersweet, to the romantic, the bruised and even the hopeful. Sheer bliss.

Max’s self-titled debut album was recorded in New York with hip hop producer Inflo and a crackerjack band of musicians who regularly play with Alicia Keys and D’Angelo, and in a sleepy North Carolina town with the musical director of a small, local black church. Both these locales helped Max effortlessly bridge gospel and soul with his country roots.

Max plays a host of festivals this summer including The Montreux Jazz Festival, Secret Garden Party and Pukkelpop.
