British producer & songwriter Maths Time Joy releases his new stunning new single ‘Only You’ featuring JMR on November 17th through Platoon. Nashville native JMR’s smooth and sultry vocals wrap around the silky electronic beats to create this stand out progressive soul track. It’s the first single to be revealed from his forthcoming 5 track EP ‘Sunset Motel’ which is set for release in early 2018.

Speaking about the track MTJ explains “This track is my favourite off the EP, I remember hearing JMRs vocal and the lyrics for the hook and seeing the vision for the track immediately, the sentiment and simplicity of the hook lent itself to repetition and I wanted to build to a climax at the end of the track, I think there’s both pain and optimism within the vocal and I wanted to get that message across within the music.”

JMR adds, “The song is about an unrequited love with the statue of liberty. I wrote it at a time when politicians were campaigning in opposition to the promises engraved on that statue. I tried to imagine the confusion and desperation the displaced were facing and put that in a song.”

Having spent the majority of 2017 producing for other artists including Mahalia (Sober, No Pressure), Kevin Garrett (A Heart Like Yours) RØMANS (Overthinking ft. Mary J Blige), Snakehips/Malika (Put It On Me) to name a few, as well as earning a Grammy nomination for his work on Gallant’s ‘Ology” – Maths Time Joy returns with his first extended project in 2 years.

Following on from his previous EP ‘Sanctuary’, which gained support from the likes of Annie Mac, i-D and Pigeons and Planes, and included his collaboration with Gallant on track ‘Cerulean’, Maths Time Joy returns with ‘Only You’ feat JMR, the first single off his new EP ‘Sunset Motel’ set for release in Spring 2018.
