Hot off the back of triumphant sets at Reading and Leeds Festivals, ’Suburbs’ is the eagerly anticipated new single from fast-rising UK indie quartet Marsicans – produced by Embrace’s Mickey Dale and mixed / mastered by the multi-Grammy award winning duo of Fernando Lodeiro (Paul McCartney, Vampire Weekend) and Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Imagine Dragons) – featuring their distinctive harmony-laden, upbeat indie meets dirty pop sound.

Speaking about the new single, front man James Newbigging explains, “Suburbs is about the feeling of not being comfortable where you are. I’d just got back from a pretty hectic few weeks away and I was looking forward to being home. But then I kept getting bored straight away. I guess it’s kind of about wanting more all the time: more experiences, a change of scenery, but not quite knowing why you want it or why you need it. I started over-thinking things quite needlessly. I remember go-ing past a man mowing the grass, making sure the curb edge was pristine, and it made me question everything, I don’t know, but I was probably having a quarter-life crisis.”

‘Suburbs’ is the follow-up to Marsicans’ summer-jam ‘Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)’, that unsurprisingly picked up rave reviews including the Sunday Times’ ‘Hottest Tracks’, BBC Radio 1support from the likes of Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and Abbie McCarthy who made it her BBC Introducing ‘Tip of the Week’, 6Music, #2 on Hype Machine’s Top 10 Most Blogged Artists of the week and Spotify support including NMF (UK & Japan), The Indie List, Summer Indie, Hot New Bands, Transistor, One Week One Playlist. Previous singles include ‘Wake Up Freya’ and ‘Friends’.

Marsicans’ (“MAR-sick-anz”) upwards trajectory over the last 12 months has been relentless: signing to LAB Records and X-ray Touring, filming a live ses-sion at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale studios, with singles making the BBC Radio 1 weekly playlist, high-profile Spotify and Apple Music playlists, and the opening credits of E4’s Made In Chelsea.

After touring with Clean Cut Kid, Jaws and Minnesota’s Hippo Campus, a sold-out debut headline tour earlier this year including dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and the 700-capacity Leeds Church, and a jam-packed fes-tival season that culminated in Marsicans playing to huge crowds at the BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals, this week see Marsicans announced as support for Fickle Friends on their UK tour this autumn, including a date at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire.
