Indie-pop quartet Marsicans release their infectious new single ‘Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)’ on June 22nd through LAB Records. A soaring indie-pop jam, it’s the perfect companion to long hazy summer days and is the follow up to recent singles ‘Wake Up Freya’ and ‘Friends’.

Speaking about the new single, frontman James Newbigging explains,
“I came back into the rehearsal room one day and found (drummer) Cale playing a riff on my guitar. When I got home from rehearsal with the riff stuck in my head, I was watching a film online and got a pop-up ad along the lines of “Wow, look how much money I’ve made.” It got me thinking about the people in life that make all these false promises to you and try and get you into their crazy schemes. Lyrically, the song is basically just poking fun at those chancers.”

Marsicans (“MAR-sick-anz”) – upbeat indie meets dirty pop –
Their driving, harmony-laden sound and exciting live shows are earning them a reputation as an emerging force in British music.

Marsicans’ upwards trajectory over the last 12 months has been relentless: signing to LAB Records and X-ray Touring, filming a live session at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale studios (http://hyperurl.co/marsicansmaidavale), with singles making the BBC Radio 1 weekly playlist, high-profile Spotify and Apple Music playlists, and the opening credits of E4’s Made In Chelsea.

After touring with Clean Cut Kid, Jaws and Minnesota’s Hippo Campus, Marsi-cans’ biggest UK headline tour took place in March this year. Shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and the 700-capacity Leeds Church all sold out in advance.

Along with the release of new single ‘Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)’, this summer sees a jam-packed festival schedule for the band with performances at Barn On The Farm, Kendal Calling and many more, culminating in slots on the Radio 1 stage at Reading & Leeds Festival.
