James Morrison today announces the release of ‘I Need You Tonight’, available now through Island Records. ‘I Need You Tonight’ is the third single to be released from his fourth Top Ten album ‘Higher Than Here’ (out now).

‘I Need You Tonight’ shows off James’ distinctive signature vocals, with a unique blend of acous-tic funk and pop-soul elements. Combined with uplifting harmonies and glimmering disco beats the new single is true testament to James’ musical talents.

Having received a welcome return when he played his first live shows since 2011 at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall and the Tabernacle in 2015 (all of which sold out in a matter of seconds), Morrison went on to achieve chart success with ‘Higher Than Here’, which went straight in at Number seven in the UK Album Chart when released in September. James’ soulful vocals take much of the spotlight on the album, creating a subtle balance between revealing the pain and difficulties that he has experienced in his recent personal life.

James is looking forward to taking the new songs out live again and said, “I feel like I’ve been locked away for a long time, but now I’m out again and looking forward to playing my new songs. The album is my best ever, I’ve experimented a bit and gone to some new places.”

When James broke onto the scene as a soulful singer-songwriter in 2006, even he couldn’t have predicted that he would become the template that allowed a wave of likeminded musicians to enter the field. Now, almost a decade on, Ed Sheeran, George Ezra and James Bay are all ruling the charts following the same format; one guy with just a guitar and an incredible voice.

Despite his self-deprecation and humble nature, he was the first to take that format and not only make it work but also became an overnight success story. Pop gems like ‘You Give Me Some-thing’ from his first record ‘Undiscovered’, made him anything but, and he won the 2007 BRIT Award for Best Male when he was still just 21 years old.

James is currently in the midst of the a UK and European tour which kicked off on Friday 4th March in Glasgow. James will travel across the continent performing tracks taken from his new album, as well some of his biggest hits to date. He’ll play London’s Roundhouse on March 18th
