Welsh pop duo Dusky Grey return with their infectious new single ‘Joy Ride’ on April 27th on East West / Warner Music. Produced by James Earp, ‘Joy Ride’ with its tropical melody and laid-back vibe will weave you under its irresistible spell. The new single picks up from the incredible start Dusky Grey had in 2017 which includes racking up over 18 million streams across their singles ‘Told Me’ and ‘Call Me Over’.

The video to accompany ‘Joy Ride’ sees Catrin Hopkins and Gethin Williams aka Dusky Grey hanging out with friends in an abandoned car park rooftop where they take on their rivals in a trolley dash.

Speaking about the single Dusky Grey explain, “Joy Ride is about the peer pressure young people feel as they’re growing up…. It’s such a common thing for teenagers to be doing things because their friends are, even if they don’t necessarily want to. It’s about that “Everyone else is doing it, so why don’t you?” moment we all experience. We thought it was important to relay the message of just doing what you want to do, and not letting anyone force or encourage you to do anything you’re not into.”

Having independently released ‘Told Me’ in November 2016 nothing could have prepared Dusky Grey for the pace with which ‘Told Me’ would gather. They wrote the song during their third meeting together in September 2016. Catrin first got in touch with Gethin after chancing upon some of his music on Instagram and was suitably impressed to contact him via Facebook. It took another year before the duo decided to meet in person and then Dusky Grey was formed.

With two infectious singles now under their belts Dusky Grey are an incredibly exciting prospect on the UK pop scene. Highlights from their first 12 months include being selected as BBC Radio 1’s Introducing ‘Track of the Week’ for ‘Call Me Over’, Spotify New Music Friday UK and Apple’s Best New UK, A List on BBC Radio Wales, Sunday Brunch video play plus support from tastemakers including Pop Justice, Earmilk, TMRW Magazine and even making it on to The Times – Essential Tracks.

‘Joy Ride’ is out April 27th on East West / Warner Music Group.
