Dagny is an artist and songwriter from Tromsø, Norway. In many ways, her music reflects her personality – a quirky folk/pop sound infused with a huge dose of youthful optimism.

Today she unveils only her fantastic long-awaited second single, “Fool’s Gold” – a potent blend of her trademark piano-laden instrumentals, infectious choruses, and distinctly Scandinavian-tinged vocals. Dagny is also announcing today the release date for her debut EP, which will see a release via Republic Records on August 4th.

“The song is about looking back on a relationship and realising that maybe it was not quite what you first thought. And the big question you ask yourself: if you will ever have that feeling again.” explains Dagny.

Written with Tommy English and DeLacey, Fool’s Gold is a hugely confident second offering. Her voice soars above euphoric, string-infused folk-pop soundscapes, as she sings “are we chasing it still? / will we ever have it? / like we had it, fool’s love / when we thought it was real, did we really have it? / or was it only, fool’s gold?“

The track feels ready-made to take Dagny forward into a very busy summer, and stands as the perfect compliment to her debut single ‘Backbeat’ – released towards the end of last year.

Speaking on how the Børns collaboration came about, Dagny said: “It was Tommy who introduced the song to Børns – who loved it. When I heard his feature for the first time, I knew the song was complete. He is a wonderful singer and songwriter and I think he gives the song a new dimension.” 

Michigan based artist Børns had this to say on his work on “Fool’s Gold” – “When Tommy first played me the initial demo of “Fools Gold” I was instantly drawn into the effortless delivery of her powerful vocal. After one listen I swear I was humming it for a week. I’m stoked to be featured on Dagny’s single, it’s a timeless jam.“

It’s been a rather exciting few months for Dagny. 

Selling out her debut London headline show at The Old Queens Head towards the end of 2014 – based purely on word of mouth, Dagny returned to the stage towards the end of last year, delivering a fiery performance to a packed out Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen crowd in London.

Since then, debut single ‘Backbeat’ has quickly become a bonafide phenomenon. Originally premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1, it’s now racked up over 18 million Spotify streams to date. As a result of the track’s explosion, she has been placed on “Artist to Watch” lists from Apple, Spotify, and Tidal in addition to receiving praise from NYLON, The 405, Stereogum, Idolator, Digital Spy, NME, Disco Naivete, The Line of Best Fit and many others. The wave of excitement has also spilled into her live performances, having already impressed at Great Escape Festival, Norway’s by:Larm festival, and SPOT Festival in Denmark. Dagny is now preparing to unveil her debut EP, set for release on August 4th, 2016 via Republic Records.
