Glasgow-based duo Prides return with their new single ‘Are You Ready’ – the second cut to be revealed in this exciting new phase of their career, in the build up to the much-anticipated release of their second full length album – penned for release in 2017.

Check out ‘Are You Ready’ over on The Line Of Best Fit, DIY, Clash, CMU, Metro and below.

The new single follows their comeback single ‘Rome’ – released earlier this year to feverish excitement from the pair’s loyal fanbase. Another hugely accomplished release, ‘Are You Ready’ sees Prides continuing their natural move towards a well-rounded, guitar/drum led sound, complimented by elegant electronic touches.

Prides sound like they’re having fun again. Like ‘Rome’ before it, the new single encompasses everything that people love about the band, adding a healthy dose of irresistible exuberance and enthusiasm.

Speaking on their absence from the limelight, and how it feels to be releasing new music again, the band said: “We locked ourselves in a cabin to work on new material, with the conscious consideration to do whatever the hell we wanted.”

‘Are You Ready’ sparks to life with some swirling fret work from Callum Wiseman, before Stewart Brock’s instantly recognisable vocals open up beautifully. Backed up by some elegant synth work and electronic flickers, the track deftly shifts into its huge, call-to-arms chorus.

Originally starting life a stripped back 80’s inspired electro ballad – according to the band, ‘Are You Ready’ was one of the first tracks the pair wrote this year, perfectly symbolising where they are heading musically.

“Lyrically it’s about forgiveness” explain the band. “It’s about those long nights you stay awake trying to figure out what you want, talking till the early hours, drinking too much, smoking too much, thinking too much. Saying the wrong thing, saying the right thing, saying anything.”

You can certainly hear from the new material that Prides are pushing themselves forward, looking to better themselves; not afraid to take chances and experiment.

Prides have consistently proved themselves to be band with big songs, and equally big crowds. 2 years ago the band played the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony to 7.5 million people on BBC1, shortly followed by an invite to support Blink-182 at Brixton Academy, and subsequently selling out two UK tours of their own. 2015 then saw Prides conquer the festival circuit – performing at Glastonbury, T in the Park, Latitude and Reading & Leeds Festivals, but this year, Prides are going back to their roots, falling back in love with the process of writing music, and sharing that with their fans.

‘Are You Ready’ is out now.
