Michael Baker releases ‘Baby Books’

Anglo-French singer and songwriter Michael Baker releases ‘Baby Books’, the third single from his forthcoming album titled Salt . This song, as with much of the record, distills Michael’s experiences of travelling the world, pouring out his heart and soul into every song, and connecting with the listener. Feelings of honesty, belonging and serenity are hallmarks of his music, and yet ‘Baby Books’ offers something a little different.

Here Michael opens up about the song: I wrote Baby Books after losing a friend who lost their battle with mental health. It shocked me how much we wear masks every day & how hard it is to see what is bubbling away underneath. Most of the time I feel that this song is not my song to sing, but then I remember the solution of all this is to talk more openly and be prepared to share our inner demons with friends and loved ones.”

Production comes via close friend Ed Martin using dusty 808 drums, distorted synths and a falsetto Johnny Cash style vocal delivery. The track was mixed by Aldous Harding . This Is the Kit credited Oliver Baldwin .

Previous support for Michael Baker has come from BBC 6 Music , Youtube and Spotify Tastemaker Alex Rainbird with ‘One God Damn’, The Independent with single ‘The Steady & The Stuck’, and was selected for BBC Introducing London’s Artist of the Week . Michael also supported Sarah Jarosz at Union Chapel and performed at the inaugural Black Deer Festival.
