Today sees Copenhagen’s M.I.L.K. return, with his first official single ‘Following The Sun’.

It premiered a moment ago over on The Line Of Best Fit, and can also be streamed below.

M.I.L.K. announced himself last year with the glorious ‘If We Want To’ – which has since seen 350,000 streams on SoundCloud, and hugely encouraging tips from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, SPIN, NME, Nowness, Indie Shuffle, Hillydilly and many more.

An intriguing concoction of tropical production, swaying percussion, and sumptuous melodies, M.I.L.K.’s songwriting harks back to the time of 70’s legends such as Curtis Mayfield or Shuggie Otis, but most certainly hints at more modern electronic acts such as Jungle, Rhye or Leisure when it comes to production and overall expression.

M.I.L.K. has pioneered a distinctive sound and visual style very much of his own since the project’s inception. A sound and style that has been in high demand since his first unofficial release last year, making M.I.L.K. a sought after collaborator both within music as a songwriter, and within the world of visuals – where he has directed music videos and documentaries for a number of fellow Scandinavian artists such as BlondageReptile Youth and more. Discussing his universe, and its development over the past 6 months or so, M.I.L.K. says: “some people have described what I do as summery or dreamy. I don’t know. I just love things that stink of summer.”

New track ‘Following The Sun’ was inspired by a trip away last year. “I wanted to move to LA to get some more sun in my life so that was the initial inspiration” M.I.L.K. says, and explains further when asked about the track’s lyrical meaning “You know that feeling when you don’t want something to end? I guess the song is about that. When you feel it’s too early to let go of a summer love even though the season is changing and the sun is moving on. So instead of accepting the end, you go with the birds and follow the sun to new shores where the summer has not faded yet.”

‘Following The Sun’ will see a release via London-based singles club 0E0E (Broen, Great News, SLØTFACE, etc.)
