Curated by Alexander Milas (Metal Hammer)

Following several months of unbridled Nordic genre-bending, Ja Ja Ja’s April edition explores the thriving scene of one of Scandinavia’s best-loved music exports: metal.

The Nordic countries have long been a breeding ground for metal acts from across the spectrum, and to act as a guide Ja Ja Ja brought in an expert: Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas. We hope you’ll agree that he’s chosen three of the most exciting and creative metal bands Scandinavia has to offer for the April show.

First up are veteran Finnish speed metal outfit Thunderstone, who started out in 2000 and have been slaying audiences ever since. Their third album, “Dirt Metal”, came out last year. http://www.myspace.com/thunderstonemetal

Next, trailblazing Icelandic Viking/black metal band Solstafir, whose name means “crepuscular rays” ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crepuscular_rays ). The band fuse together a variety of influences into a punishing, dramatic sound. http://www.myspace.com/solstafir

And last but not least come Norway’s “black and rollers” Vreid (pictured below), whose latest LP “Milorg” has become their greatest success. The band are currently putting their last touch on their first DVD, entitled “Vreid Goddamnit”. http://www.myspace.com/thepitchblackbrigade

For those familiar with Nordic metal this is an unmissable bill, and for those who are yet to see what the fuss is about, this will be the perfect introduction.

In association with Metal Hammer, Total Rock Radio and The Line Of Best Fit.
