Today sees Kent-based 4 piece Dead Ceremony reveal their new single ‘Seventeen’, along with the announcement that their debut EP ‘Tell Me Lies’ is set for release in Spring 2016.

The new single ‘Seventeen’ premiered on Clash, but can also be streamed below.

Forming just over 18 months ago, Dead Ceremony have had some brilliant support thus far for their previous singles, but this new track stands as a huge statement of intent moving into 2016.

Working alongside producers Maths Times Joy and Brassica to create their new material, Dead Ceremony look set to deliver on their early potential.

“It’s getting harder and harder to breathe / when will you stop asking so much of me?” croons lead vocalist Christopher Stewart on the assured new cut – suggestions to a relationship on the brink of collapse. The outfit cite the likes of M83, Bon Iver and Chet Faker as points of musical influence, and the contrasting elements in these artistic references can certainly be heard on this new release.

Rousing electronics, and bass-heavy synths majestically partner with crisp percussive hits and elegantly placed samples, creating a smooth wall of sound – the perfect backdrop for frontman Christopher’s celestial vocals.

It’s clear to see that Dead Ceremony is an outfit that are trying to do things a little differently, feeling very much like a collaborative project. Bassist Harry Pearce created the band’s last video. Percussionist David Trevillion makes the individual artwork that goes with each gig the band play, as well as being heavily involved with all of the production of the music.

The band’s work with the producers they love in Maths Time Joy and Brassica have helped shape Dead Ceremony’s sound – and it’s all the better for it.

Working alongside photographers and film-makers they love in Pete Fleming, Pat Pope, Angus Carter, Oliver Jennings and Eve Tagny have added to the whole project’s aesthetic feel, and according to the band…”each person involved in the creative side of Dead Ceremony has joined together through a shared belief in the music we are making. It’s not just 4 guys sitting in their bedrooms thinking they know everything. There is a community growing around the band, and it is ensuring that everything the band produces is shown real attention and care. Everything is considered and for the good of the music and the art.”

‘Seventeen’ is set for official release on November 6th, with the ‘Tell Me Lies’ EP expected to follow in April 2016, both on Fonthill Records.
